
In this talk, I will take you on a journey to the world of scanning tunneling microscopy. This technique based on a fundamental quantum effect enables unprecedented insight into the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of conducting materials. I will illustrate its amazing imaging and spectroscopy capabilities with selected examples from superconductivity, magnetism, charge ordered and topological systems.
